Often while my children would freely and joyfully run through the sand, chasing birds and splashing waves, I would close my eyes, take a breath, and let the coolness of the type of breeze only the ocean can bring, and the mighty yet soothing sound of crashing waves wash over me. I would pray that this memory, this feeling of peace and joy, would settle deep down in my heart so when I returned to the grey and weary truth of my normal day-to-day, I could close my eyes and remember that there is more.
More of what? I often ponder, when my heart and soul feel empty. When I am craving, grasping, fighting, searching, longing, and hungering for more. More than people, position and possessions could ever satisfy.
My creator speaks to me.
I am what you crave.
My body broken for you to partake.
My blood spilled for you to be filled.
My life given so you could live.
Fully live, not storing up treasures that fade, but daily being washed in the love, truth, and grace of my great name.”
So I come to the Word, this deep well of riches so free and so true, and I let His words wash over me. Settling deep down in my heart, so when I return to the truth of my normal day-to-day it is no longer grey and weary but filled with so much more. More love, more peace, more hope, more joy. In this place is where I settle, allowing the sight of my baby girl, singing and rocking her baby doll, to be grander than the ocean. It is in this place, that laughter and smiles pouring out of my playfully wrestling husband and son are sweeter than the ocean breeze. In this place, seeing God work through the struggle of helping my Grace go from a girl to a radiant young woman is better than the warmth and radiance of the sun.
I close my eyes and let this life wash over me a, beautiful and messy as it may be, and remember that this is more.
Worship: I love music & I love to share it. Each song is for each post. Listen and Enjoy! How Deep the Father’s Love For Us
Gratitude: Give thanks— “This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us.” 1 John 3:16
Grow: “Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name” Jeremiah 15:16— Is spending time in God’s word a priority in your life? How can you commit more of your heart and mind to dwelling in His truth?
Give: “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine…” Ephesians 3:20 –God is More and while we await his return he gives us his more to enjoy. Who can you share this truth with today? How does it resonate with you?
Each LSLW post includes three areas of reflection in hopes to offer a chance for us to give thanks, grow in our personal faith and find ways to pour out from our lives what Christ has poured into us.
