If we’re getting real– the past few months have been a knock-down drag-out, all around battle. In the midst of all the difficult decisions, unknowns, health scares, and overwhelming circumstances I almost waved my white flag. When I looked at life through my own lens, I felt hopeless and insecure. I was ready to admit defeat. But God in his great mercy, reminded me of this truth-
Surrender is not defeat, when we are surrendering to God. This is the definition of victory.
We have this great privilege as believers to filter our circumstances through the lens of God’s word. If we feel overwhelmed he says surrender- “cast your cares on me”, “my yoke is easy to bear and the burden I give you is light”. (Matthew 11:30 & 1 Peter 5:7)
If we feel insecure he says raise your white flag for “He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:2)
When we look through the lens of God’s word, our circumstances may not change but our perspective does. And once were looking up to God, our view of everything around us drastically changes and get this, our heart changes too. When we are willing to surrender, we immediately find victory.
Victory is giving the battle back to the Lord and remembering he’s already won. Though we may not see our troubles remedied today, we can still have peace, we can still have joy. We can still have hope that if he’s going to let us experience a trial, he will be faithful to carry us through.
