Something about sunsets stirs my heart to the goodness and greatness of God. I’ve learned that as glorious as the setting sun can be, if your patient you’ll experience something even more magnificent. As soon as the tip of that giant fiery ball sinks beneath the horizon, the crowds turn their backs, load up their cars and drive away. And then…in the stillness and in the quiet, God surprises us. He paints the sky in a fiery array of color that could never be matched with pen or brush. He takes your breath away at the marvelous works of his hands. You see the sun has set, the day should be done, but when God lays one thing to rest it’s because he has something even more beautiful in store. Perhaps God is laying to rest an area of your life right now, and your unsure of any hope for tomorrow. Maybe it feels like more of a cloudy, gray sunset; the kind where you are not certain if the light will pop through. Take heart…light always shines brightest in the darkness. And this light, the light of Jesus, will always shine through. Simply be still and trust and see.
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it. ” John 1:5
